Uproar facemelter decreases volume

My Uproar is sounding good but it seems that I cannot get the facemelter mod work properly. I put 33n cap in the C10 slot and 22k resisor in the CP slot (both are socketed). When I engage the mod, the sound changes a bit (not very much) and the volume decreases quite a bit. I assume the volume should increase instead? Any idea what could be the problem?

I'm also having problem spotting the difference between clipping modes and the same problem has been mentioned on the forum earlier. As I removed the red led clipping and used the other clippings individually the difference was much clearer. So it seems I have to get on/on/on DPDT switch and do the alternate switch wiring.
