Ibanez CP-9 Grit mod

Hi,
     I would like to Hijack the gainstage out of the Tubescreamer and add to the mod section of my tonpad CP-9. I am not sure where to enter and exit the gainstage on the layout. Should I put this on a switch to allow "0" gain? And could I add this right before the level control? Thanks in advance!
