Clipping diodes in Cavedweller 2022

I noticed a pair of 1N-914 clipping diodes added to lug 2 of the Dwell pot in the 2022 Cave Dweller schematic.  What is the effect of this addition on the pot's operation?  Oscillation?

It distorts the signal with diodes, instead of distorting the PT2399 when the signal gets too big.

I imagine Brian wanted to bring back the distortion from the first version but make it sound a little nicer or different since he removed the diode trick from pin 7 in the CD2.
