I got my Kraken working (https://www.madbeanpedals.com/projects/_folders/FilterMod/pdf/Kraken2020.pdf). The "LO" side is a little underwhelming but pretty standard for the bass side of an envelope filter. The "HI" side, however, feels like it's trying to kebab my brain with eardrums at both ends. It's painful and unpleasant, just one big treble spike.

Any suggestions on replacing some of the values in that circuit in order to tame the treble when switched to "HI" mode?

PangeaDestructor

Bumping this one. Can anyone point me to the HPF on this circuit and some alternate values that would help tame the eardrum-piercing treble sound on Hi mode? Thanks!

Sorry, I missed this thread. Are you sure everything is correct on your build (resistor and cap values)? Obviously the Hi setting is going to be treble focused but it should not be glass shattering.

For comparison sake, here's a demo of  the Function F(x) Accufunkture which I designed and is mostly the same circuit as the Kraken. Starts with the Hi setting.

Wow, reply from the Bean himself! Mine definitely does not sound as sexy as that video.

So, this is usually what happens. I swear up and down that I've triple checked everything, then someone asks if I did, and I find something wrong. In this case, it turns out that at C4 I used 3n3 instead of 33n. Before I go triple checking everything else, which I'm going to end up doing now anyway, is that the likely culprit?

PangeaDestructor

Son of a...popped a 33n into that spot and it sounds awesome. Gonna go annoy the wife with it for a while now. Thanks for reminding me to check my work again!
