I'm about to start a few projects and one calls for a 3362p trimpot. In an effort to keep costs down I want to order all parts from one place if possible. That being said, Small Bear carries a 3266w trimmer that I think will work but would like a second opinion from you fine folks..

Here are the build sheets..

My main concern is the contact resistance variation.

3362p: Contact Resistance Variation  ...........................1 % or 3 ohms max.  (whichever is greater)

3266w: Contact Resistance Variation  ........................3.0 % or 3 ohms max.  (whichever is greater)

Will this be a cause for concern?

No, but those 3366w are multi-turn trimpots which I would not recommend. Multiturn allows for much finer tuning than single turn but it also means you are going to be turning them forever to make any noticeable adjustment. They just are not suited for most guitar pedal trimmers. The exception might be in something that benefits from fine calibration like clock adjustment on an analog delay.

Unfortunately, you'll have to get used to the idea of using more than one vendor to get all the parts you need for a given pedal project. It's rare that any one has everything. I don't know why smallbear doesn't stock the 3362. Tons of people use them.

I figured setting the bias would be the issue. Typically I have ordered from Tayda but have had some damaged IC's and mislabeled resistors in my last two orders. I may socket the thing and give it a go. If I don't like how long it takes to set then I will never go that route again. Teachable moment.

Thanks!

I don't order many parts from Tayda but I've never had a problem with their 3362 trimmers. That and sockets are about all I use them for.

Mouser has a great supply of the 3362: https://www.mouser.com/Passive-Components/Potentiometers-Trimmers-Rheostats/Trimmer-Resistors-Through-Hole/_/N-9q0yt?P=1yzrzgu&Keyword=3362p&FS=True
