This one was dirtypcbs.com. Not pristine like osh park but very very good.

Absolutely speechless. This is where us non-smd guys miss out. Billy, can you recommend a proper solder station/reflow oven to get started?  I have to try.

I use a regular iron that I've had for 15 years. Nothing special. You can YouTube the skillet method, but you can only do 1 side that way. There's a bit of a zen thing that happens, where you guide the part but let it do what it needs to. All about the surface tension of the molten solder.

I see people making gizmos to hold parts in place but it's little like spitting into the wind.  I promise I will post a video soon, finally have the means to do so.

I had a bunch of trouble getting it biased properly, still not quite there but close

Not "I had trouble with all the SMD soldering",
Not "Fitting it into a 1590a was a bitch",
Not "I had to refinish the enclosure because the clearcoat crazed".....

But "I couldn't get it to bias".

**** me.  That's maybe one step above "I burnt my finger on the soldering iron".

I think I burned my fingers doing the biasing. 

Used fixed resistors if it's any consolation.

I haven't seen anyone else doing this aside from the 3pdt boards people use. It has an element of risk if you solder the switch in before testing and end up with a dud pcb but for me I like all the wiring it avoids.
