I haven't done a build report in ages. There's a major shout-out to Flanagan due here for sending me an external-nut dc jack when I realized PPP had run out. Besides that, this is an excellent etched board from Haberdasher and a nice new color from PPP called purple star sparkle. I tried to get it to show up well in the pictures--it worked best without a flash but you need to see this color in person! My younger daughter picked the color scheme. Between the parts count and off-board wiring, I think this is the most complex circuit I've boxed yet. You can probably tell that from the wiring, but it sounds great so I'm not sweating it too much!  ;)

Beautiful work, and I love the white knobs on there. Very sharp looking. I know what you mean about trying to capture sparkles in a photo. It's not easy, but I can imagine it really pops.

Great job, the internals look clean. I LOVE that purple.

Man, I MUST get a powder coating rig at home as there are some awesome colors available.

Thanks!  :)  I always give myself a hard time on the wiring (and I do have a tendency to just rush it if I feel like I've spent too long on a build), but my builds end up easy to service and not too noisy at least.

I could see this purple looking good with one of your etches, Cody. It's pretty dark so I think a reverse etch is about the only good way to label this color besides silk screening in white or something. Hence my going with the simple look since I'm only set up for waterslide decals at the moment.

The flashing LED inside impressed my wife and kids, so I think I can call this one a success!

love the purple!  guts look nice too

powder coating is awesome, but you'll hate sanding an etched enclosure, stuff is tuff.  That said, there might be some tricks you can use to not sand it at all with an etch ;-)
always the beautiful answer who asks a more beautiful question.

really nice work! I've been meaning to build one of thee...

Thanks for the kind words!

This is a highly recommended build...it's the lush, mellow '70s vibe sound I've been after. Less metallic-sounding. But it can get crazy if needed since the feedback and depth controls are so interactive.

I love the purple sparkle and white knobs! Great combination! The guts are nice and clean and the wiring is tight! Where do you guys get the LED lenses? They look cool!

Bret608

Hey Mike,

Thanks! I used to have to get those LED lenses at Mouser, but Pedal Parts Plus started carrying them recently.

Cheers,

Bret

Bret, your daughter did a fantastic job with the color scheme.. I would listen to her more often.  ;D
Great build and no more holding out on us.  We live for this stuff.
