Brown tracing on PCB layouts?

Newb question-- what does the brown tracing on the PCB layouts represent in the build guides?

ive never stumbled on that, but i guess its the color of the pcb traces?

Those are just different layers (and I assumed they were red and green).  I don't think they're anything specific.  For example, in the Green Bean build doc +9V definitely comes in on a red trace; but if you trace the signal input, it starts on a green trace, moves to a red and then back to a green all before it hits the base of Q1.

Adamo, these are just different colors that represent various layers of a PCB. Since during PCB routing, it is important to know which tracks are on which layers, people use visibly distinguishable colors for different layers. Two traces of different colors can cross each other since they’re on different layers but two traces of the same color cannot cross. This helps in verification step of a PCB before it is sent for manufacturing.
