Is there anything close to the EHX Super Ego in the DIY community?

No.

It's a dsp effect (a complex algorithm as well I imagine).

DSP is still an emerging area for DIY projects.

The closest thing I've seen in the non-dsp DIY world is this


it is pt2399 based so don't expect too much fidelity nor control

go to diystompboxes and search for "~arph" "sentinel"
