metal package ge diodes

I got an order of nos ge diodes in metal can packages. they look like ge transistors with only 2 gold legs. has anybody got any experience with them? they look cool as hell.

I found some of these the other day hidden away in a random parts drawer at school. unfortunately when i tested them, they were all DOA. either that or they're so old/weird that my tester didn't like them.
