Voltage control on a SPST

Alright, so I know this is rookie stuff (if you don't know ask right?)

But I am building a small atari punk console as a birthday gift for a good friend of mine. Instead of using a whole footswitch for the thing since it's only an output I am wanting to use a spst switch as a simple on/off toggle.

My question is though, in order to preserve the battery life is it better to connect the + of the power flow or the - to the switch and then just have the other run into the unit to complete the circuit? I don't think it matters I just want to keep the unit from constantly being on and draining the battery.

I don't think it would make much of a difference either way. I made a layout for a low-power variant of the apc circuit that I found in case you're looking to reduce the power needs but have yet to verify it (if all goes well I may have a few spare boards when it's verified)
