Hi Everybody,
A friend asked me to build a MK1 for him earlier in the year. I had heard what a pain they could be but said OK anyway. He chose the name and it turned out to be pretty apropos. It started out as an NPN build but I couldn't get things biased right and switched to a set of PNP's from Small Bear. That helped quite a bit but along the way I burned up a power inverter IC, tried to destroy the decal after printing on my last sheet of paper, etc., etc. But I think I can finally close the lid on this, it will be great to finally get it sent off.

A couple vids, one of an early test build and the final boxed circuit:

That has to be one of the best looking Benders I have ever seen! Fantastic choice of graphics, font, colors, even the LED is chosen well and it's holder.
Will comment on the sound as well as soon as I've heard it. Bravo!

My wife wants royalties for you using her "official" title (Her words, not mine).

I bet that thing sounds as awesome as it looks.

Well, I think it sounds great! Was your layout from Tagboard? And how much did the trimmers help? Just wondering if they gave you any increased flexibility in what transistors you were able to use.

thanks guys! Yes, it's Tagboard's layout for the Gary Hurst version.

For me the trimmers were pretty helpful. I biased mine by ear and often just a small nudge to the trim pots was enough to change the sound quite noticeably.
