Egghead/Gainster clipping diodes

I've built a tagboard Gainster clone and I love it so much I bought 2 Egghead pcbs and will make one stock and the other I'll socket the diodes just to see what other options sound like.

Has anyone already tried this?

Haven't tried different diodes, but the Gainster is one of my fav's and is likely a good platform for testing, since it's fairly neutral sounding.

Don't know about different diocese either, but I love the Egghead as well! I'll be interested on what you find though.
