Powder coating at home?

I was wondering if anyone else does this on the cheap? I see these Eastwood kits go for under $150 on eBay and I was looking for any tips on this.

Someone got a powder coater around christmas from Harbor Freight,but they have been quiet about it since they got it. I think it was like 60 bucks.

oh I would be interested in see some results from that.. I got a HF like 5 minutes from me.

Fastocker did a whole tutorial on it a while back.  I think a bunch of us jumped on the bandwagon.  I wouldn't go back to rattle cans now for anything.

I use this at my house. I've never had a problem with it. It's been great. Use that gun, and a toaster oven to cure.

I use the harbor freight one too . It works great, however....

You pay like an extra $3 for a nice powder coat from PPP or mammoth. So unless you plan on powder coating a few hundred enclosures. I don't think it is economical.  Remember you need the powder coater $60-100, a toaster oven say $40, and then powder... At least another $15 per color.  Are all you enclosures going the be the same color?

If you are power coating other stuff, or doing it for other reasons than $$ have at it. 

I do mine sometimes, not cheaper really, but it is cool that I can do it myself now if I want to.

At Harbor Freight the powder is like $5 a pound.  White and black are the only good colors, though.

I got one of the Craftsman guns for $27 shipped from Amazon.  I've had really good luck with mine.  Reviews on those are hit and miss.  Maybe I got lucky, but it's been good for me.

But, yeah, it's still probably cheaper to let PPP do it.

So...  If you don't like Columbia coatings, try powder365.com.  They also have small amounts for sale.

Also keep in mind powder is flammable and moisture sensitive.
