TB loopers, pull down resistors (& buffers)

I would like to build a simple 2 loop true bypass looper with a specific purpose in mind. The idea is to have loop A containing my dirt pedals and loop B containing my mod/ delay pedals. I would have the two stomp switches close enough to hit at the same time, the idea being that with one stomp I can kill my clean effects and bring the filth. The two could obviously also be hit separately for any other combination of pedals.

My question is will this result in a pop-splosion to end all pops? Should I be incorporating some kind of pulldown resistors? If so, what exactly are pulldown resistors? TBH I don't really grasp the concept.

Also, seeing as my boards is buffer-free these days, I want to incorporate a buffer, possibly between the two loops (post dirt, pre modulation). Does this sound like a good idea?

I realise this is a really dull post, but anyone who feels they can chip in would be doing me a big favour by doing so :)
