Uh oh, haha I have a giant plastic jar of 99.99% pure tantalum where I work. I never knew... We use it for all kinds of stuff; the melting temperature is way up there.

Tantalum sounds like poop anyway, according to sciency papers I've read. It's worse than ceramic for distortion, apparently.

With my own ears, I can't really hear that tants are better/worse than electrolytics. So I default to the cheapest thing that works.

Bugger, forget the caps, what about the Tantalum in my computer? My phone? My TV? EVERYTHING I OWN IS "MURDER"!!!
Ever been down a chinese aluminium mine? You could easily argue all caps are murder. And resistors. And transistors...

Seriously though, I don't understand why people use these horrible yellow things anyway. I prefer non-exploding components which leave marginally less blood on my hands.
