Yo, i've got couple questions regarding my Weener :o

First, i'm completely bypassing the switchable buffer and will built a Fuzzrot instead that i will piggyback to it.

I would like to know if my thinking is right accordingly to the schem.
If i want to use the onboard switch holes, the output of the circuit should be the first pad of C7 that i would run a wire to the input of the fuzzrot and then run the fuzzrot output to R15 output?

Other question is, i don't have any BC549C, but i have BC550, MPSA18, MPSA13 and MPS6521, wich would be the best to use? or any other recommendation, i have pretty much everything in the 2N series.

Next one, C2, if you refer to VOX V846 schematic, this is a NP 4uf capacitor, i do have some 4uf axial NP caps, am i good to go?

Sorry for all the questions, just want to make it perfect on first shot.....i hate to re-work circuits...and don't want to have a bunch of sockets.

Cheers

Hey Rej!
2N2925's are stock in a Thomas Organ Crybaby, I have a bunch of vintage ones pulled from a Lowrey organ, but if you already have some you'd be good to try them.  2N2924's are good to try as well.  I have an OC140 in Q1 of my test-bed junk-o-wah crybaby right now and am really really digging it, an idea if you want to get really out there and use germanium transistors.  As far as the 4uf NP axial goes, you are lucky to have them!  Most folks have to use a 4.7uf, but 4uf is the correct "vintage" value.  If you look at some build reports there is alot out there now on omitting and implementing the freq. pot that would be a good read if you wanna try and get it right the first time/minimal tweaking later.
     Have fun!

Thanks Timbo :)

I've just got my Tayda order in, and got some BC549 in it, but if you can spare some 2N2925, i'll gladly paypal you for them.
Never tought of going Ge for this...., that's a really interesting idea, just a tought on top of my head, could i make this board PNP, would i just need to flip the 2N5457 and the diode on the other side?

That may not work, but it would be killer....... ;D

I have 2 other GCB-95 boards aswell......so i have plenty of «space» to fool around.

OC139, 140, 141 are all NPN Ge Symmetrical transistors, more or less gain based on orientation, so they are nice to have for swapping into things, in my Crybaby the Ge in Q1 biased right and worked just by swapping it in.  PM me your shipping address and I'll see what goodies I can dig up to send your way!

Just little report here.....

My board is all populated, ommited the whole buffer section, built a fuzzrot wired it like i mentionned, supplying the 9V from the weener pcb aswell. Took some trannies that would make it work just to test it out and it works flawlessly! :)

Checked out the threads about some mods for this circuit, did'nt want to have to much pots for the wah, because i'll already have some because of how i'm building this «Logic Wah». So it turned into a trimpot festival!

And ordered 2 Ge trannies of each one that Timbo recommended me, stoked for the final result of this built....

This wah board is so well made, really like the fact that it's «mojo» friendly, being able to fit everything without having it look awkward is plain awesome. Props to Brian on this well designed circuit! ;)
