karate shop harmonic energizer parasitic oscillation?

Hi folks! I built two Slap Chops with no problems. I gave them to musicians as gifts. I believe one immediately sold his to fund a Strymon purchase 

Anyway! I wanted one for myself and built a Karate Shop. It works great unless I max the gain and try to get some of the wild distortion this effect is capable of. When it distorts it is very unpleasant and has a nasty decay that sounds very similar to a tube amp with parasitic oscillation problems.

Has anybody else had similar issues with the Karate Shop?

I'll try with the one I built. Never really maxed the gain as it jsut gets too loud.

Will test and get back with results.  -- only issue I havewith mine is that it pops loudly when activated, depending on what pedals it's in front of or behind. So I need to test it out anyway. (I built the buffered version)
