What have you folks decided on for the diodes in your Aristocrats?

I am not sure I am willing to spend the time/money to hunt down the originals.  Just curious what you guys have in there and if you've tried them against the originals.

1n914 all the way is what I've used in a couple. Liked em just fine.

Yup...1n914's...I actually prefer them to the originals!  ;D

I'm about to build one up. Did you do 1n914 for D1-D4, and 1n4001 for D5-6? Or did you literally use 1n914s for all 6?

Actually, 1N4001's also sound good for D5/6. I have used those now that I remember. I cannot really recall at this point the minutiae of the different diodes, though...it's been a couple years since I fired one up. You might also try RED LEDs for D5/6, too. I do remember using that and liking it.

Thanks guys.  It sounds like the alternative diodes might be better than the originals in this particular case.
