Is there a list of the components and what each one does?

It contains the bill of materials (BOM) which is a comprehensive list of components.  There are descriptions of some of the parts in the build doc, but not all.  As far as "what each one does", that would be a process of analyzing the schematic in the build document, and looking up the things that don't make sense.  One source for details on a similar circuit would be https://www.electrosmash.com/vox-v847-analysis
