Volume Pot Question

I'm building a DOD 250 and I do not have the A100k for the volume pot.  The volume pot is the last thing in the circuit with pin1 to ground, pin 2 to output, and pin 3 coming from the circuit.  Does the value for this pot matter or change the feel of the circuit at all?  It's just a voltage divider, correct?  Would any audio pot work here?
