Hi everyone, first post!

This is my second pedal build.  I boxed it (I know, I let you down) and found the pedal to not be functioning, it bypassed just fine.  When I unboxed it and found a single unsoldered resistor, I tried it again not in the enclosure and low and behold it is functioning just fine.  Got excited and boxed it up and again it is not functioning.  I will get voltages as soon as I can.  It was working when not in the enclosure I wonder if there is some sort of grounding issue?

I'm enjoying the new hobby, I am going to be building a testing rig next instead of charging forward with boxing new builds.

Nicely done. I'd clip some of those tails on the solder side of the board just to clean up any possibility of shorts to the enclosure. Might just be the photo but the bottom of the ldr and the resistor opposite C3 soldering might be suspect. I'd give it a once over on soldering joints and you're likely gold.

That's a pretty involved project for a second build!  Welcome to the madness :-)

You can also line the inside of your enclosure with electric tape as an insulator to see if that gets it to work when boxed.  then take it out and see where there are any marks on the tape to indicate where the short to the case was located.  either trim that wire, smooth the solder, and then (for good measure)  add another layer or two of tape to that part of the box

Thanks for the advice.  I've had some trouble with getting it running in box.  I've used the insulating tape and that seemed to work but I found that the pedal would function if IC 2 had a little pressure on it, I wonder if the low clearance sockets are not soldered well or the IC isn't seated.  I've found reinserting it to make the pedal function for a period of time then it would stop.  I've had some issues withe the SPDT switch as well.  I wonder if that might be suspect seating into the PCB and it is causing the circuit to short or the IC2 to short?

When the pedal is functioning its pretty cool!  I will hopefully get some time to work on it the upcoming week.  It might be good to come at it with fresh eyes.  Also building a moar and a glam as well.

It sounds like the socket for the IC may have a bad solder connection.  Try touching up all of the solder points for the socket, making sure you heat each pin enough to remelt the solder.  So long as every pin on your IC is in the socket and the IC is evenly inserted, it is likely seated OK.   For your SPDT switch you can try touching up those connections too.  If you have any visible holes around where the SPDT posts meet the board you might want to add a bit more solder to those points.
