Greenbean build

I built a Greenbean and I'm having issues with it. When I plug it in, I get a real faint fuzzy signal that fades in and out. I did a continuity check and that's okay, I didn't do a voltage check, that's kind of over my head. I have tried several JRC 4558Ds and that isn't the problem. I socketed the transistors and the two diodes (sym, I think) so I could try different options. I haven't swapped any yet because it's not functioning, right now I have some Bat 41s in there. I also socketed C5 (which is supposed to be a 120n) with a 100n and later soldered it and the transistors thinking that maybe there was a connection issue there. I am thinking that maybe it could be the elec. caps or the transistors, any ideas?
