Dirtbaby output volume

I've built the dirt baby and it sounds great!  I've noticed that, like the classic DMM, the higher the Level control is set, the more the distortion.  So, would it be possible to add an output volume?  I'm thinking of replacing R5 with a 100K pot.  Would this give me better control over the output volume after the effect?
