Wondering how people organize parts. Here's what I came up with for resistors:

I think that depends on how many builds you are planing on doing. once you're knee-deep i parts, a small parts drawer is a good investment. before that I stored the different kinds of parts in zip bags and had cardboard spacers with the value written on them in between. all that was going into a cardboard box to flip through the baggies.
I've seen people put small parts into baseball-card collecting thingies that you put in binders.

for single builds, I think your approach is pretty smart

I keep everything in boxes, sorted by resistance. The bags from mouser are labeled and all the same size, which makes it easy

I have all my stuff in a boxes, caps, transistor...
My resistors come from Tayda, their little bag are labeled.
I have no big space, and this is my method. I separated all these little bags, there are a lot, in two bigger bags labeled: "1R - 12k" and "15k - 10M", in increasing order.
In the end it is quite convenient for me.

As I was planning to build more than 1 stompbox, I ordered a resistorkit with I think was 115 Value 1150 pieces 1/4W Metalfilm resistors from e-bay for $ 19.00 and stored them labeled in cheap boxes. In that way I had most values at hand.

I just pull one piece at a time out of the bin. Here is a fairly current picture of my bench, each item has its own bin. Even each build has its own bin if its a work in progress. Granted i've been doing this for some time, I came across a tin full of transistors the other night that I had packed away over 20 years ago! Assuming you have a little space and plan on doing this for awhile, small stack-on drawers work excellent.

That idea with the holes in the paper is a cool idea.

I have 6 of them for most of my parts. Since my work bench is high enough to stand at I just stand there and populate boards. It works for me.

That harbor freight organizer looks pretty nice.  I've got an ancient 20 drawer organizer that I don't use so much anymore.
A few years ago, I switched to these:

I started out with 3 or 4 and now I'm up to 14.  I label the sides with a sharpie and store them on a shelf.
They fit real nicely.  The local Hobby Lobby has them for 50% off every once in a while.
