haven't got any MPSA13. I do have 18s though. Gotta check the datasheet to see if it's worth changing it... I thought this would just affect the brightness of the lamp?

i did this mod too. its also worth, because the MPSA can handle higher currents than the 2n5088, and its not getting hot.
thats why i used this tranny, because i want it to last

also a useful mod is to switch off the lamp, when the effect is bypassed. so the lamps lifespan will also be prolonged

to the LED issue: i thought maybe a brighter LED could solve this?
maybe the LED is just very dim? if its completely off at slower speeds, then Q15 doesnt get enough base current
