Bear hug and humbuckers

Anyone use the bear hug comp with humbuckers?  Thoughts if so? I built an orange squeezer(cupcake) and my 335 57'classics smoke it into distortion. It's totally useless to me.  I built a Ross clone, sounds cool. Seems to strip off too much treble for me. I always struggle with it.   I have an afterlife board but haven't built it yet. Just reading about the bear hug and thought it sounded super cool. Thinking about picking up a board to make it.
