here's an uber old japanese wah I just bought for 23 dollars. I bought it expecting to flip it for more cause I know there are a lot of shin-ei enthusiast in my county but I ended liking it, it's completely different than the Colorsound I have, it's much darker and fatter it is awesome for soloing with distortion. also built like a f-in tank, impeccable condition inside, the pot is not scratchy at all I am amazed at that, everything works spot on. very nice wah and incredible vintage japanese quality. feel lucky for having it. I gotta record a clip of it versus the colorsound, just so you guys could hear the difference, it's crazy how different they are. oh, and it has those original 2SC828 transistors that made many a superfuzz legendary. now I am really itchy about trying some of the TR-8 models that have this wah in them along with the incredible superfuzzish fuzz in there

I mean even if you're not a wah enthisiast (I'm not!) you can value the attention to detail and quality of these japanese pedals, awesome

no need for tracing it haha

Very nice.

Are they using the transformer as an inductor?  :o

GrindCustoms

That's a beauty, nice catch! 8)

The transformer as inductor also got me wondering... maybe they just used a «standard» transformer frame and got wound to an inductor spec.

Well, you can use a transformer as an inductor, I just hadn't seen it in a production pedal. It was a trick to deal with hard to find parts a long time ago. RG (as usual) wrote about it: http://www.geofex.com/article_folders/wahpedl/wahped.htm
