NVD ! ?

New Valve Day?!
Not sure if that exists

Anyway, my Blackstar Artisan 15 hasnt been sounding too great recently (crackly, lowered output etc)
Rather than diagnose a faulty valve I just took the plunge and ordered the 6 requisites.
2 x EL84, 1 x EZ81 rectifier, 1 x EF86, 2 x ECC83/12AX7

I actually subbed a 5751 valve for v1 (preamp) as it is a lower gain variant and apparently offers better clean headroom.
This is a 5/15w class A switchable amp, so clean headroom isnt its forte, but its still massively loud.

I plumped for JJ across the board apart from the EF86 which was a Svetlana.
My amp has never sounded better.

I wanted to shout out to http://www.karltone.co.uk/ for the UK folks.
I would usually go straight to Watford valves or HotRox but Karl was £10 cheaper after postage and stuff arrived next day.

NVD huh?...I like it. I've been thinking of replacing the tubes on my Peavey Prowler. Time to research
