pedaltrain arrangement with effects loop

Hey guys,
I´ve just ordered a pedaltrain Jr. and im already checking for ideas on the pedals arrangements.
I liked the idea that this guy (http://guitarpedalboard.tumblr.com/) had of drilling an extra hole for an output jack. In this way would be an easy plug n play. I remembered to see somewhere something similar but for the pedals that will go to the effects loop in the amp.
I would like to setup a box on the pedaltrain with an in/out jacks where i can also just plug n play in the back part of the amp.
Anyone has done that? or could help me with ideas (pictures) of a small in/out jack for the loop?
sorry for the noob question! soon i will be able to post my new pedalboard on one of the the Pandadandan thread :P
Cheers guys!

What's you're looking for is available from Redco. Get 3 or four of these: http://www.redco.com/Redco-PM-TRS-TRS.html

Essentially, they're pass through jacks, with a locking mechanism. Drill an appropriate hole for the Passthrough jack, then mount it on the pedaltrain. If you use one, you can use it as an output, or an input to the board, depending on what you plug into the other side. Use two, and you can have an input and and output. Use 3, and you can do something like an output to amp, effect loop in, effect loop out. Use four, and you've got input to the pedalboard, output to the amp, and effect send and return as well.

I'm going to be putting three onto one of my Pedaltrains. Just got them before the holidays. You should see them when I get a bit of time to do the drilling I need to do, then finish the pedalboard wiring that includes my Epic Looper.

Hey, that's pretty cool.  I didn't know they carried that.

That's great Jacob. Please let me know whe you have some pics of your pedalboard.
so, do you think that is better to drill directly on the pedaltrain instead of building a little box with the three jacks? i would like to have an output for the front of the amp and 2 for the send/return on the effekts loop.

Well, you could do a seperate box, like a 1590B, with jacks on both sides of it, but then it takes a space that a pedal could use. If you try and strap it to the bottom of the board somehow...

May as well install those passthrough jacks. Sturdy, and not terribly expensive.

I did a separate box and mounted it under my board.  It has 10 enclosed jacks in it.  My board at home has two external loops that I use to test pedals at various points of the pedalboard.  I have a looper onboard that enables/disables them.

I got a PT-3 for Christmas and would like to do something similar (no with that many jacks, but based around the same idea). Is it to much to ask for a couple of pictures?

Reading this I realized I sounded a little rude.. sorry. But I think pictures could really be a great help. :)

No problem at all.  I'll take a few snaps for you when I get the chance.

I have pics of the interface box already.  It's not fancy or complicated.

Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiccce!
I liked the Paul´s idea and suggestion of the jacks directly to the pedaltrain (i just have to think about it if i want to sell it later...might be a problem).
@Pickdropper: How it works your box? Sorry, im totally noob on this and im trying to learn as much as i can faaaaaster!:P
with 2 send/return can you add 2 loop system on the back of the Amp? like a delay+Chorus in one and a flanger +? in the other!?
Im wondering if is a good idea (seems like) to have a looper/switch controller in to organize diff loop combinations.
Any comment on that too? :P
Thanks guys for sharing!!

Sure, it could be used for an effects loop.  I have it hooked up to an old Vibrolux, which doesn't have an effects loop.

I have this on the pedalboard in my office.  I use this to break out two external loops which are then enabled/disabled by the looper on my board.  It's great for testing pedals without having to take other things off the board.

Hey Jacob,
I´ve found this jacks :

It seems similar to the ones you´ve shown. Of course half of it:P. I dont know this jacks but im wondering if they can be attached together somehow...
Cheers

I've only seen those locking jacks on 4x12 cabs before, where the pressure waves in the closed cab can blow the 1/4" power amp cord out of the jack entirely.

You have to solder wires to the ends of them, rather than have them as pass through jacks. So, if you need two of them to make a single one of the pass through, you'd still need 2 for each connection, and by then you may as well do things like Dave does them, and build a 1590B with a few regular jacks in it and put it on top or below your board.

If you want to to attach jacks to the actual pedalboard, the passthroughs really are highly recommended.
