LED's in glass jewel bulb

I'd like to use glass "jewel" bulb covers over LED stomp status lights, like old amp lights. I've seen them for sale on e-bay, anybody know a good source? I think they come with bulb holders for incandescent bulbs, how would you modify for LED's? I was thinking i could just leave out the bulb holder and just let the wire leads from the LED down to PCB provide enough rigidity to hold the LED in place below the jewel glass cover. Suggestions?

The pilot light assembly is what bolts into the chassis itself. It should be very possible to NOT attach the incandescent bulb bracket, and just have the socket, nut, and the jewel piece installed. I'm not sure if the threads are long enough for a standard Hammond enclosure (they're designed for sheet metal chassis, not thick aluminium), but they're cheap enough you could have a go.

Hey mate, I've done a couple of pedals with jewel lamps and i just hot glued the led in place, worked fine. Just use a super bright led or a lower value clr as the led's weren't very bright due to the glue/lens cover, all the best, matt.

If you can find the right fit, I rubber stopper would probably work pretty good!

I ordered some jewel lights from ebay.. they were plastic, but look pretty nice. I made a little tutorial about them on my blog: http://www.jurimusic.com/2013/05/diy-tips-tricks-how-to-use-jewel-light.html

+1 Gil. I would try to coordinate the color of the LED with the jewel color. I got my jewel's from amp suppliers.
