Stupid question. But how does a passive amp foot switch LED get its power?

With the footswitch I made for a "favorite" button for the Strymon El Cap, it passed voltage on the tip of the 1/4" jack for the footswitch. I bet the amps do the same. Just a guess.

I would say to look at the schematics of your amp to see if voltage leaves the footswitch jack.

Thanks Selfdestrroyer.  I opened the footswitch last night and no battery.  It is a TRS cable.  It controls Channel selection and boost on/off.
So, the schematic doesn't indicate that there is voltage but there must be.
If the voltage doesn't return, then boost is off.  Is that how it functions?

What amp?

Most run low voltage and the switch and led complete the circuit that flops a relay.
