Lesson learned.

All mechanical/knobs/etc will be ordered elsewhere from this point forward.

Some of their mechanicals are OK, others are totally crap. I've taken to doing an order of one from them when I'm getting something else just to see what it's like. I agree that their switches are crap (except for the SPST momentary stomp which I think feels pretty good). But, so is every other inexpensive switch I've seen. Actually, all cheap switches from every supplier look just the same to me -- junk. Good switches are expensive.

Knob wise, most of Tayda's pretty much suck. Some are OK. Smallbear's clones are much better than the other suppliers I've tried. Again, most of the cheap ones look like they come from the same factory that Tayda gets theirs from. But, if you are looking for rubbery-synthy knobs, those really cheap ones that Tayda carries are pretty good and they fit the Alpha pots perfectly.

I've had two cases of semi's being out-of-spec or fake from Tayda, 2N5458's and JRC4558's. Both were obviously stripped and remarked. But, that could be on their suppliers and you see it happening to lots of places and everything else I've ordered from them seems fine.

I've never ordered jacks or 3PDT foot switches though because I got a bunch of them a few years ago and I haven't run out yet.

Oh yeah, I forgot, I hate their resistors. The leads are so wimpy that they are hard to breadboard with and don't take heat well for soldering. The Xicons in packs of 200 from Mouser are cheaper and much nicer.

My bad.

Hope I didn't come off as "snappy"... Wasn't my intentions!     ;D

Fake semiconductors? Oh wow...    Now that I didn't even consider.

The knobs I've gotten from Tayda have actually been decent, where the ones I've gotten from other dealers look somewhat scuffed up.... That said, I have stripped the flat head off the metal inserts in a few WAY too easily.

I used to get these from Tayda:

http://www.taydaelectronics.com/hardware/6-35mm-1-4-plugs-jacks/6-35mm-1-4-mono-chassis-socket-jack.html

But cables seem to fit sort of loosely in them, and I've had problems with the nuts not fitting right and misthreading. I started getting a bag of Neutriks from Lawrence over at Bitches'

they're only 10 cents more and much higher quality. So far his 3PDTs have been fine too.

Have you done a lot of business with bitcheslovemyswitches.com?  I've never heard of them but the site looks promising.

Alot, usually $100 a ta time. Bill me later gives me 6 mos same as cash   ;D. Lawrence is a stand up guy for sure. His stomps with shipping are the cheapest I've found, and I only get my enclosures and most of my knobs from him.  If he doesn't have what you need, you can email him too. Fast shipping for sure. He's also on eBay as itches love my switches
Pedal building is like the opposite of sex.  All the fun stuff happens before you get in the box.

I've had the same problem with those Tayda jacks too! Thanks for that link to bitches..

Bitches is a great deal.... I just hate spending double/triple for shipping when I need parts that I can't get from just a single supplier.
But blms is the place to go for boxes and switches. Best deal in town.
