Did you ever find the problem? I got exactly the same thing goin on with mine.

Works like a charm except the volume output is insanely low.

Here is some pictures and a small video sample. It is much more extreme then what the camera actually picks up. This thing is a beast and it got hundres of setting. I find the gainpot quite sensitive and will experiment with that one in the near future.

I had a grounding issue on my board. Tried to fix the traces with my exacto but it didnt work out in the end. So i and ended up cutting the traces leading the the HI/LOW switch and wiring the switch to the other components and moved the input directly to the gainpot and Voila! it works like a charm.

Still have to get my drill and expand the holes for the jacks since i originally used metal jacks but replaced them with plastic. Awesome pedal all in all and i do not regret building it.

Yeah i did find the problem, it was a board error. There was a small short etching fault at the top right lug of the spdt switch to the input.

+10 for you my friend!

There is no visible bridge on those part, most likely its the gainpot. Will try to remove it and check again.

Allright im gonna check for solderbridges. I did find something i thought was wierd. I was using my buzzer/ohm check dunno what the funktion is called on my fluke. Correct me if im wrong but i did get signal between the extra groundpad and the input, lug 2, 3 on the the gainpot and up to R1 but not after. That seems like a grounding issue don't it?

Hi!

I made a misstake measuring from vcc- thats why i got those wierd values, i did retake on the readings and uppdated the voltages list.

Hi i have problems getting any sound through my natulus.

I cannot even probe the damn thing at the moment! I probed the tele connector comming out of my cellphone and it works fine, but as soon as i plug the tele male from my phone into the female on the board its dead silent. I get no sound whatsoever when i probe it connected to the phone. Could it be a grounding issue perhaps? Probe is grounded, i've tried several grounding points.

Also i noticed if i placed my probe on the end of R1 the LED while shine brighter for a while and after maybe 1-2 seconds it goes back to its faded shine again.

Well any help at all would be much appreciated, im banging my head on this one since i cannot even probe the damn thing.

Thank you Mr Madbean changing D4 and D5 to 1N5817 and C26 to 100uF removed all the clock noise for me.

I will post a video of it soon :)

I Did some googling and found this http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?PHPSESSID=4117d328e0d7920f025342d63dbde677&topic=76657.0 he Added two extra stages on a daughterboard. Alltought i have problem figuring out where the daughterboard should be injected on the smoothie.

Mods / Adding phase stages to the smoothie?
March 01, 2013, 05:58:50 PM
Hi everyone! Just finished my Serendipity and my smoothie. Great pedals!

I really like the smoothie but i really want to go into van halen territory. Is it possible to add more phase stages without altering too much? I read about RG keens mod and it seems he just added the phase stages and i was wondering if the same thing applies to the smoothie.

My basic idea was to add this to a daughter board connected via cables connected to a switch so i could go between the original schematic and the mod.

I have attached a schematic but i have no friggin idea if it will work or if i will burn something.

Changed pot, ic, trannies and diodes and now i can confirm that the circuit is working as it should, but the humm is very constant and alot louder then the actual audio going through. The humm now starts after R2. However im gonna put back the shielded wires to see if it helps.

Thanks for your help midwayfair! i have learned alot from your tips.

Hrm.

well, the only signal at R2 is ... your guitar. It MUST be a grounding issue at the input jack or earlier, or your audio probe or something else external to the circuit.

Hi i wrote a bit unclear but its only after R2, probing before its perfect.

Yah i forgott to tell you guys that the overview that i attached has different markings. Green for perfect, yellow for small humm (might be humbucker hum) and red is a disaster.

Finally got a hold of a decent camera. Today i changed every capacitor on the board, resoldered IC socket, changed potentiometer wire and also cleaned up some flux.

Been probing a bit more and im also getting crazy :) never has a board given me so much problems!

The last stand is to change transistors once again, if that dont work i will toss this.

Now im really confused :) What do you mean by Q3 and D3?

Changed opamp and trannies again, most of the distortion after the first lug on the ic disappeared. and i did  have signal for a while on q2 for a while. As of now i believe the trim pot has something to do with the issues together with the potentiometer wich seem glitchy.

Checked both the trannies and the diodes and they are placed the correct way.
