General Questions / Re: pedal board power supply

I think you would need to use a 7809 voltage regulator instead of a 78L09 for positive ground output.

Mods / Re: sea urchin mod?

I built the Sea Urchin last weekend and I get endless repeat oscillation when the feedback knob is full CW.  I built it stock with no part substitutions.

Great pedal BTW.

General Questions / Re: Salvaging Wire

I salvage out of computers as well.  You can get a fair amount of stranded 22AWG and 20AWG in a variety of colors off of the power supply.

General Questions / Re: Tayda Pots - Knurled Vs Solid
November 19, 2011, 07:16:28 PM
With the knurled tayda pots, I have found it helps to put some heat shrink on the shaft if you are using set screw knobs.  It helps the "grip" of the set screw and the knob seems to set straighter.  The shafts of the pots are longer.  You can either trim them or use a couple of washers on the pot to shim the knob down.  If you like the cheap Tayda knobs, they fit perfect, have no set screw, and do not require you to trim or shim the shaft.

I've had no issue with the Tayda PT2399 chips.  No problem with the 3PDT's either.  I really like their PCB mount Alpha pots with condoms.

FWIW I finally bit and ordered some of the $0.19 Tayda knobs on my last order.  they actually are pretty good.  I used them on a couple of projects I recently boxed up and was impressed with feel and look.

Contact cement is what you use to attach plastic laminate to a wood substrate and should also work equally well on aluminum.  Just make sure you have it lined up properly as you only get one chance.

Going from memory I think A is Rawk and B is Rock.  You will know when you wire it up.  Big difference in the two positions.

General Questions / Krankosaurus Wiring
February 17, 2011, 02:31:54 PM
I just finished a Krankosaurus.  It is tested and working and I am getting ready to box it up.  This is my second build and I thought I had a pretty good understanding of the wiring.  The Krankosaurus appears to be a negative ground circuit.  If I am correct, this means the DC power supply tip is negative.  On the PDF build document wiring diagram (Ver. 3), it shows the tip (T) of the DC power jack wired to the 9V input of the board.  Is this correct?

If it is a negative ground circuit shouldn't the tip and sleeve wiring be reversed on the diagram?

Thanks in advance for the help, I thought I had a good handle on the wiring but after studying the Krankosaurus diagram I am a little confused.

Pedal Parts Plus has them in linear taper:

Mammoth Electronics has them in audio taper for $0.76 each for 100 but are not showing 25K A, only 10K and 50K
