That is an incredible looking pedal!  The combo of machining and stamping makes it a masterpiece!  Nice job!

Really great look! It makes me wonder if you could shellac it with some thinned-out epoxy or something to get the tweed/fabric look of the ol' 50s Fenders. Really cool work!
That's a good idea!  It would look better with some depth to it and would probably wear a lot better.  Thanks!

I would try pouring Envirotex over that.  It should work great.

I'll have to read up on Envirotex and give it a go.  That would give it some fantastic depth!

Build Reports / An Impractical Series of Pedals

I don't know about you guys but I have found myself with several enclosures that I have either made mistakes in drilling or have recycled from other projects.  After seeing some of the genius ideas of people covering enclosures with fabric I got a spark of inspiration.

I took these three enclosures and filled the unneeded holes with epoxy and then sanded them flat.  I had this old tapestry laying around and sprayed them with adhesive to glue the fabric on.

First I build a two-in-one, Madbean Neutrino with a Red Ranger boost from Tonepad.  To make it as impractical as possible  :) I used a toggle (instead of a stomp switch) for the bypass of the Red Ranger.  I like the way it looks on the outside but it's a mess on the inside!

The next is a Little Angel Mini Chorus made from mostly recycled parts...

The next one is a Tonepad Tube Screamer and the Slambox from Madbean.  The boost seems a little unnecessary but it still sounds pretty nice.

These pedals were meant as an experiment and I had a ton of fun building them thanks to the inspiration of the builds I've seen here!

I see what you did there with the Name. Awesome sharing a hobby with your kids and teaching 'em right at an early age. I should do the same with my Hooligans, one of which is a Caleb (C.J.) too

Awesome!  3 cheers for kids named Caleb!

Very cool - What did you use to do the etching?  The same solution to etch copper boards?
Yup.  Muratic acid and hydrogen peroxide! Amazing what you can do with that stuff!

Completion of an earlier post.  My 9 year old son and I finished this build last week.  We built it from scratch, from blank copper to a rocking pedal.  We did the enclosure design in Photoshop and etched it together.  He put all the hardware on and helped me solder the switch.  Great fun!

It was going to be an etch.  That was the image transfer in preparation for the etch but I like the way it looked so much I just left it...

This pedal is awesome!  I love the control that it gives over the trem.  I had some problems with it at first and couldn't figure out what I did wrong.  After a couple of days I realized I had the + side of the LDR backwards.  I flipped and it worked perfectly!

The picture is my youngest of 5 and I'm grateful that they each play  an instrument!  My oldest is becoming quite a guitar player and is in the middle of building his first pedal (Ego Driver).  As far as the Glitterattii, it is a pretty over the top overdrive with nice treble and bass controls!  When we finish it I'll post some pics and clips!

We finished this pedal and we love how it turned out!

I know this isn't a complete build yet but I had the greatest time with my 9 year old building this.  It was a spur-of-the-moment build of the Glitterattii.  He helped do some soldering and other things, and you should have seen how excited he was when we rocked it!  :)
