Thanks, I'll check these out.

Open Discussion / Re: Vero sucks
March 31, 2013, 04:31:12 AM
Thus far I have only had good results with vero.  I have built 3 fuzz circuits, and a delay.  They all fired up first try.  Well see but at the moment I like vero.

Open Discussion / Zero Point SDX - Demo?
March 31, 2013, 04:26:31 AM
Has anyone posted a demo of the Zero Point SDX yet?  I know several people have built one, just wanted to hear it in action.

Thanks,

Mike

By the way, never apologize for asking questions, that's why these forums exist.  ;D

Yes, leave the leg that the battery snap is connected to in you drawing open.  It receives no power from the outside plug. When there is no plug inserted the two pins are bridged which allows power to flow from the battery to the outside lug.  The bridge is broken when a plug is inserted which keeps the battery from exploding when outside power is coming in.  The stereo jack keeps the circuit open to save the battery.  When a guitar cable is inserted the circuit is completed and begins to draw power from the battery.  The people who come up with this stuff are pretty smart.

Build Reports / Re: Clari (not)

Thanks guys, Yes I prefer peanuts as well, but my son is allergic.  :-\
I have built two other pedals in tins, and the wiring is always the hardest part.  I started using them to save money on enclosures, money is tight right now.  During the Christmas sale I bought a lot of blems from Mammoth, those will be my next five enclosures...maybe.  ;D

Build Reports / Clari (not)
February 07, 2013, 08:13:42 AM
Here is a Clai (not) it is my first vero project.  I found the Layout here: http://tagboardeffects.blogspot.com/2012/02/mid-fi-electronics-clarinot.html

I found this tin at Kmart, they had all sorts of different candies, it was $3.50 plus I got to eat all the M&M's while I built the pedal.

The wiring is a little messy, but I needed to allow for the lid to open

Here is the LDR roll I made, works like a charm.  Next I want to try to tackle one of Jon's perf board projects.  I am finishing a Lowrider right now I will put in the contest, I am not as good as most of you guys but it is a lot of fun trying to be.  ;D

Waited too long to order  :-\, but looking forward to the demo.  It will give me something to look forward to.

Make sure you get a good deep score, the first time I did it I did not go deep enough and my board broke In a random jagged line.  Lesson learned, I now score both sides before I break it.  I also found that if you score it well enough one snip with wire cutters one one side will cause it to break down the score line. You can then clean up the edges on a sander if that matters to you. I use my bench disc sander.

Open Discussion / How does this thing work?
February 03, 2013, 05:42:02 AM
Hey guys, long time lurker / admirer,  With about 15 builds under my belt. Mostly PCBs and 4 vero projects. Anyway I want to say that I really enjoy the DIY community, you guys are awesome and super friendly. But my question is this. What is the best way to start understanding how these circuits work?  I can populate a PCB or follow a vero layout, but I don't really know what is going on under the hood. I really admire people like bean,  slacker, and jon Patton who are creating and tweaking circuits. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks,

Mike

Build Reports / EgoDriver retrofit
November 12, 2012, 07:23:18 PM
Here is my EgoDriver.  I still need to order some knobs, but I used an enclosure from a broken off brand distortion.

I used some ribbon cable I got out of an old computer for the the pots and switches.

I did not want the switch to stick out so I hid it under the original foot board, I had to glue on some wood to make it work.
