that sounds great, really like the sound your getting.  I think i've listened to your demo a dozen times.  cool stuff!

thanks man. that muff is absolutely killer so gotta give it up to BAT for that.

thanks everyone. Just a little bit of neurotic OCD and solid core wiring and you to can have that kind of wiring build.

Build Reports / EgoDriver + GGG RAT With Demo
October 05, 2012, 06:24:39 AM
EgoDriver + GGG RAT in a 1590DD enclosure

its EgoDriver into RAT, no switch on the order

Mods:

Added a Blend control on the Clip switch of the EgoDriver so you can do variable adjustment between stock clipping and the LED clipping. Super easy to do, just wire a 2k - 5k pot into the Clip 3 holes for the switch. At noon both clipping methods are somewhat out of circuit for a nice cleanish boost setting,

Added a Ross Mod on the RAT but made it different than usual. Its a 2k pot with one end wired to the normal 47 ohm + 2.2uF cap but the other end of the pot is wired to a 10uF cap with the middle lug of the pot going back to the circuit. Now dead noon is like least clipping with both caps mostly out of circuit. Turn it to the 2.2uF side and its normal RAT, turn it to the 10uF side and its a superbassy fuzzy RAT.

They stack really nicely, the EgoDriver can tighten up the RAT and bring out the mids/bite by just using it as a cleanish boost into the RAT.

yea well your right on, pharaoh is a modded muff. My go to muff for most stuff.

Handles the LowRider octaves easy. The pedal is not bad, doesnt do exactly what I want it to do, namely super down tuned sludge notes. Tends to crap out on the open C on my Les Paul, its tuned to C Standard. Not sure if I fucked something up or thats just how it works

Holy crap. That clip was making my bowels rumble. I can only imagine what it was like in person. Great stuff.

thanks man. That amp an bring some pretty heavy volume, gotta love the non master stuff.

Build Reports / LowRider With Quick Demo

Finished up a lowrider

Added a spring loaded footswitch to instantly bring in the octave 1 down.

Made some oopsies, wired the controls backward, but fuck it, just a proto.

Quick demo through a Matamp GT120 with a Pharaoh and a Les Paul Standard +

How long does it take you to plan and execute one of these guys? They're beautiful. (I am a sucker for stuff like this.)

the turret stuff? well it depends on the complexity of the build. Planning can be quick if the circuit is easy to do with turrets. Fuzz Faces and Boosters are incredibly easy to do. Building probably takes me 2-3 weeks. I build slowly. Pedals are just a secondary thing. I usually build amps

That is some inspirational wiring, my friend.

Heck yes, I was going to say the same thing.

thanks, i appreciate the love

thanks i thought it was a bit sloppy but it was not my preferred wire of choice. its just some ratshack PVC solid core stuff where I usually have some 20 awg solid core teflon stuff which is much superior in terms of bending and soldering. I normally dont do PCB pedal builds and instead do all turret builds.

like this

Hey folks, first post on the first of 3 builds featuring boards from Madbeans.

This one is a compressor + delay in a single enclosure (1790NS)

The compressor can be put into and out of the circuit using the 3PDT toggle on the left in the gut shot. What I am trying to explore in this prototype is making a delay which can work with heavy/high gain/high volume fuzz in front of it so my idea was to have a compressor before the delay to adjust levels and even out the signal, then after the delay use a boost to adjust levels to be unity when the entire delay circuit is bypassed. I have to still build a high headroom booster after this but for now this thing will help test out some concepts.
