Tech Help - Projects Page / chunk chunk trimmers
September 28, 2012, 06:51:05 PM
I am building the chunk chunk project and this is the first pedal I have built with transistors and trimmers.

Here are the trimmers I purchased:

http://www.taydaelectronics.com/potentiometer-variable-resistors/trimmers/6mm-top-adjustment/100k-ohm-trimpot-variable-resistor-6mm.html

Are these the correct type I am suppose to use?  The leads are not even close to matching up on the board.

Tech Help - Projects Page / Chunk Chunk J201 lead spacing
September 28, 2012, 05:22:32 PM
I am building a chunk chunk pedal with the newest 2012 board.  This is only my second build and my first build with transistors so bare with me if I am asking a stupid question.  I ordered some j201's from Tayda Electronics and I noticed that lead spacing doesn't quite line up with the board.  Did I order the wrong part?  Am I suppose to use a socket? I could fit in it if I bend the outer leads out just a little but then the transistor wont fit all the way down in the board.

I have recently bought this PCB and I bought board mounted pots for it.  I have run into a little confusion about the orientation of the board.  If I mount the pots to the board as I have traditionally done where they are mounted on the opposite side of the board as the rest of the components the second row of pots seems backwards to me.  The top row with volume and gain makes sense with volume on the left.  The second row would then be pres, treble, mid, bass from left to right.  This seems backwards to me as I am used to the bass being on the left.  Is this how this pedal is supposed to be arranged? I am okay with it if it is I just want to make sure before I move on in the build.
