General Questions / Re: Running Boneyard at 12v question
February 07, 2013, 12:57:02 AM
Damnit....oh well, guess I'll have to experiment with some other pedals then to see if the extra voltage makes a difference.

I've read on other forums that running the Boogey on +15-18v really improved the pedal. Guess we'll see tonight when the parts finally get in and I get her wired up.

Probably around $40....worth every penny IMO considering the LL is $190 new.

General Questions / Re: Custom Drilling?
January 18, 2013, 11:32:18 PM
I've thought about this too since I ended up selling a TS clone for Christmas present cash (bought my nieces a beginners drum kit with the proceeds!) and I'd rather have someone else do the drilling if it's more accurate.

I had wired different on-on switches for the Mid/Bass mod, the clipping mod and the gain mod. Basically I wanted a pedal that did the stock TS808, Boss OD and Keeley Mods with the ability to switch everything around.

Wonder if a Photoshop template would work. I just emailed them and I'll report on what they tell me.

General Questions / Running Boneyard at 12v question
January 18, 2013, 11:17:33 PM
Hey guys

So when I originally built my Boneyard I set it up to run at 9v.

I've read numerous reports that running it at a higher voltage makes it really sing. So I could buy a 12v adapter and swap out the TC1044 (by the way, don't buy the MAX1044's from Small Bear, I've fried three of them!!!) for an LT1054. But that just wouldn't be in the spirit of building stuff from scratch would it??

I'm planning on building a road rage this weekend and hooking that up (if I can find the room!!) but I notice that while it says 12-15 volt operation on the layout, how would I go about only getting the 12v that I want? I've heard that higher voltage settings tend to take away from the sweet spot on the Boneyard.

Forgive me as I guess this is a noobish question, but then again this is my first attempt at upping the voltage on any pedal. Going to do the same for my Dr. Boogey but at least I know I want 18v.

Thanks for any helps

General Questions / Farty LaVache Pedal
January 02, 2013, 06:19:03 PM
Hey guys

Just finished building the LaVache and while it sounds great there's two issues I'm having:

1. I have to max the volume pot to match the output of my amp (Fender Champ) and;

2. I get a farty/fuzzed out sound on the Twin/Tchula settings with the gain set at max and the boost enabled when I play too hard on lower strings.

As far as the diodes I'm using Bat41s on Z1-Z2, a Small Bear germanium diode for Z3. When I had a Bat41 in Z3 I couldn't tell the difference on the linked/tchula setting and per recommendations on the forum switched it to germanium. Transistor is the 2N3565.

Double checked pots and they are the correct values.

Any ideas?
