Just a note for anyone wanting to do the double delay but can't get the boards there's a vero layout here which I used:

Hey gtr2 when you posted your demo did you have depth at the max? Just wondering because in my demo the first repeat is actually slightly louder than unity gain(when depth=maxed), but in your demo it's not, so is that because of the mod or just because you didn't have the depth maxed?

Edit: okay just re-read your post now... ahh. So the only way to fix this would be to attenuate the input to the BBD then amplify the wet signal back to just above unity gain.. hmm I think i'll just leave mine as is. Although the distortion is a little worse than my recording really shows, I think it's livable with, I really like the extra time ;D

Definitely an improvement in the first half compared to the second part there. It sounded pretty clean in that first min.

I'm using a mustang with single coils, so probably why I almost get away with it. I'll mess around with it over the next few days. One thing I noticed when I was using an audio probe was that one BBD was clean the other not (no matter where I move the trims.)

I've recorded what mine sounds like. I only had my phone so it's a really crap recording. You can only really notice the distortion when I play those chords hard, it's not too bad. I kinda like it like that now and might just leave it as is. But compared to my mn3005 build it's not so clean.

Just vero'd a double delay for this and I have same problem too! Yay!!!

Now, if i'm really careful with the trims I can get it fairly clean, however if I strum a chords, It'll distort a bit. I was rather naughty and ran the whole pedal off 12v for about 10sec, I didn't notice any real improvements though. I'll be trying to figure this one out too... The extra delay time so cool though! :'(

Check in particular the depth pot? An error there could result in no delay.

Must be fake if you can't get more delay time out of it than that. You can push the delay time out a bit more than a stock DM-2, but if you push it too far you'll get a high freq whine - especially audible if you have a presence knob on your amp.

You have moved the trims right? There's just a small section where the delay turns audible on one of the trims.

Just built a skweeker and picking up radio stations with it  ??? ???. It's definitely more than one station at once. It's not too loud, but say I touch the metal part of my null pot or I put my finger near the wires/diodes it will become really loud. I'm using really old OA85 diodes and fender telecaster and also a mustang bothw/ single coils. Anyone know why this happens?

Okay, the fact you get -9V seems okay since you had the black probe on +9V. (it's the norm to always put the black probe on ground though)

Okay with the pot, pad 1 should always be ground, pad 2 can be ground depending on the orientation of the pot. If you move the pot to 12 o'clock you should get a voltage on it. (for all these measurements make sure the black probe is to ground.)

Okay that's good.
A few things to check:
1) you haven't got the power supply reversed? Put the black probe on the centre lug on the dc jack, and the red one on the lug to the side the multi meter should read 9V, not -9V, if it says -9V you have it the wrong way around. Also check at the CB red probe to 9V black to GND.

2) The LED, when the pedal is engaged there should be 9V on one side of R5 and on the other side 9V - 1.5V

3) Does pad 1 of the slam pot actually go to ground?

Putting the multimeter across the 2 lugs on the DC jack do you get 9V?

Probably is possible although quite hard to. Do you have a multimeter to check the 9V is going to the board? To check the jack is okay you could put a probe into it, there should be a pin in the center. Then attach the  other probe to any ground eg ground on the in/output jacks. The DMM should have a continuity setting or otherwise measure the resistance should be 0 ohms. That will only check the -ve of the jack is working however it's hard to check the +ve as it's quite hard to get a probe into the jack.

Bump, just to say i'd be keen on this too, about to try and etch a single sided version of the double delay board.

Are the values of R8 and R9 correct? Also check R4 and R5. Those resistors control the gain I believe, you could increase the gain by adding a parallel resistor with R9 perhaps something ~300K as a guess(the lower the value in the resistor the more gain) OR increase R8 to maybe 50K. Also perhaps a 250K pot.

Although there may be something else the cause, I haven't built this circuit so I'm unsure.
