Quote from: madbean on July 17, 2024, 04:16:11 AMA European distributor is definitely in play at this point. My international customers are not coming back, for the most part. And, I don't blame them. I could ship several boards for under $5 in 2010. Now it's up to $20!

I really think you should consider Musikding in Germany, they are highly recommended and reliable. Maybe another option is Retroamplis in Spain...

...but with everything I've said, it seems to me that I haven't been able to resist the temptation of ordering some more pcbs from Aion...

Crazy and very frustrating!
Since July 2021, the rules for online purchases outside the European community are subject to paying tax regardless of the amount, in the case of Belgium the VAT is 21%. What makes me angry is that they apply that 21% to the total amount of the purchase, shipping costs included, and customs also bills 18.30 euros for administrative costs! It's a theft !

Open Discussion / Belgian customs sucks!

Hello everyone,
I'm writing this post to share the frustration I feel right now that makes me rethink whether the satisfaction of building pedals is still worth it. A couple of weeks ago I was tempted by the new Aion projects and decided to order a couple of pcbs. I know well that shipping costs have increased a lot but even so my desire to build pedals after so much time of inactivity was stronger.
The package has been blocked at Belgian customs for a week and today they sent me the invoice to pay for taxes and administrative expenses: 27.12 euros!
It's not really about the money but finally I think that paying a total of 69 euros (42 for the order + 27 taxes) about 70 US dollars for 2 pcbs is excessive and frustrating!
I don't want to be misunderstood, my anger is only with Belgian customs...but I think this was the last time I ordered pcbs or parts from outside Europe. I wanted to order some of Madbean's new projects but...
And I still haven't received the pcbs. A shame...
Apologies for the long post and for complaining.

...the guy really insisted  :) and I'm not really a musician, I build pedals for fun, for friends or just to challenge myself...
Besides, I still have 2 Pangea boards to build the ultimate voodoo super vibe.

Hello !
This one was sold to a friend...
The enclosure in this one was an experiment, painted in black, gold and turquoise and then sanded down. I kind of like the result...
Sounds great, really great !  8)
Hope you like it

I use punches to label my stuff too. What do you use as a backing on the enclosure when you punch to prevent it from denting?

I'm using this :

Looks good.  How did you colour the lettering - it doesn't look like you have sanded down the top afterwards?   I'm impressed by how consistent it all looks.  Getting those letters lined up is not easy, I know.

It's simple, I just use a sharpie, let dry a little and then clean the enclosure with a tissue paper and some isopropyl alcohol...
I try to align the letters using a metalic ruler taped to the enclosure, that works for me,  but in general I try to simplify things...

That labelling is awesome!
Thank you ! It was my first attempt with punch letters. Anyway, I still don't know why I didn't put "bass, mid and trebble" below the pots  ???
