Open Discussion / Re: my $3 Goodwill delay
March 27, 2013, 02:15:16 AM
Yes it is a um uh yes...a "vintage David Gilmour signature model delay"...formerly owned by  Eric Johnson . Worth....$800.
Then i think somebody must have rehoused it into a plastic case and slapped American Idol on top of it...and stamped "made in China" on the bottom...now worth...$3.

So is the PT2399 a common chip used in pedals or should I look for a better quality one for future builds?
I am going to try and do a rehouse first for kicks and giggles and look for another for parts.
I guess I will need to keep it at 6V or is there a way to use a 9V and step it down?
Maybe a built in "Devolt"? (noob alert!!!)
I have seen them around before and will snatch  them up if they are only a couple bucks.
I will try to make a You Tube demo as it is first.

I took the pic's with an iPad and they came out perfect. I could read the values and everything.
I guess they don't translate well to Photo bucket.
I thank you for your help though.
I have a DMM...I guess i will need to figure out how to use it now.

Open Discussion / my $3 Goodwill delay

Hi all, thought I would share a little find of mine. You pro's will probably laugh.
I picked up a little tiny "karaoke" machine at Goodwill or $3.00.
I grabbed it because it had a knob that said delay...I thought....hmmmm?
Lots of inputs and outputs=fun toy/project.
I may try to do a rehouse with it.
After cobbling some connectors to it from guitar to amp...I was pleasantly surprised.
It has so many different flavours. A nice analog type delay, reverb"ish", echo....and it overdrives nicely too.
It uses 4 AA batteries, but....it works.
I will take it apart and take some pic's.

Feel free to laugh now...i can always salvage it for parts.

Hi all. I was hoping that somebody might be able to help me.
I aquired an old (70's?) Mephis (Coron?) Auto Wah and it has issues. It did not seem to work at first. I replaced the battery lead but the blue wire came off something...not sure what. If I touch the blue wire in various places around the trimmer I can hear it oscilate when guitar plugged in and played. I should have taken a picture first.
The brown wire came off the one pot...volume I believe.
Any advice would be great. I have some really good pic's.
I thought someone may be interested in them too.
Sorry for my noobiness.

General Questions / Re: acoustic pedals???
March 03, 2012, 04:12:37 AM
that sounds good. I will rethink my direction on this with my new found info.
there was a pedal maker "heavenly tone" (no longer in the biz but still has website) that made the "Koinonia". (google it) and it looked sooo cool.

General Questions / Re: acoustic pedals???
March 03, 2012, 03:49:02 AM
good suggestions thnx...oh I dont get discouraged easily. My acoustic has the usual onboard "4 band eq / volume". I tried using just a chorus pedal slightly then into a di box and it was...just not right...?

General Questions / acoustic pedals???
March 03, 2012, 03:15:16 AM
hi all. I was hoping somebody might know of a decent acoustic guitar pedal project.
is there such a beast? I've looked around but nothing.
probably because its a dumb idea?
something that would just add a bit of eq, tone control, touch of boost...?
And could run direct into the board. (XLR?)

thanks guys, these all look like good suggestions.
fyi, I do also use a Lab Series L5 solid state amp (same what Ty used on the first 4 albums)
I will probably make my decision next week sometime.

General Questions / what's it going to be?
March 02, 2012, 03:56:57 AM
ok so I want to purchase a pcb from Madbean Pedals. I am a newbie.
this will be my first board purchase.
here is some quick info. I have a US Strat with Duncan Hotrails, playing through a Digitech RP1000 into a Legend A30 hybred amp from to 80's. I want to add a few pedals in the chain.
I also love Ty Tabors from KingsX's tone. I am going to build a Timmy Type pedal on the side.
what is the consensus out there?
I will go with the majority.

thanks
this should be interesting
