Alright so I have been building a bunch of pedals and most all are good to go except for these 2.  If you have any ideas on what they could be, please let me know.

I built the LaVache pedal.  I have it all put together and it works.  I even did the boost as a 3dpt switch for easy access.  Anyways, the pedal has an incredibly high pitch sound to it we engaged.  The effect does work and I do get good sound, but if I stop playing you can easily hear an obnoxious high pitched sound (not feedback).  Does anyone have any ideas what could cause this??

I built the Snarkdoodle (tube sound fuzz pedal).  This thing is ballsy loud!  Like way way too loud. Even at it's lowest setting it is incredibly toooooo loud.  I was afraid I would blow a speaker and it totally kills the ears when engaged.  Again, works and sounds good, just way to loud and won't match any other volume settings.  The one thing I did different with this build is swapped C6 (330uf radial cap) with a 100uf Radial.  I talked with a friend and he said that cap doesn't affect the audio, but the power only and it would be okay to swap them.  The reason I did this is because I found it very hard to find a 330uf radial cap.  DO you guys think this would effect this issue any?  If so, do you know where I can find a stinking 330uf radial?  If not, do you know what in the heck is going on?

Thanks guys!

I ended up using a 2N3904 for Q1 and Q2, and a 2N2222 for Q2.  I went to test for continuity using an audio probe and didn't get anything after Q1.  I just tested the values for the trannies.  I do not know much about them, but the values for Q1 seem low.  Do you guys think my Q1 is just bad or what??

Q1:
.88
.25
.14

Q2:
8.46
.88
.28

Q3:
6.50
1.42
.76

Ok, so I'm sorry but I am a halfway noob.  I have built 8 or so pedals but have yet to need to probe anything.  I have a DMM but do not know where to probe at.  Could you please inform me as where exactly the points are that I should check.

Thanks for the help!

Tech Help - Projects Page / Cherry Bomb help please

Hey guys,

I am doing the Cherry Bomb.  I have everything on board put together and I always test the board and parts with a little testing rig I have built and have successfully used on several other builds before wiring the jacks and switch.  When I tried this board, I do not get anything....  I have gone through the parts one by one twice to check value and orientation where necessary and all checks out to be good.  I also have checked the back several times to look for any solder bridges and I don't see anything even close.

I am baffled on what to do.  Do you guys have any suggestions/recommendations?  If you have any questions, or need more pictures, please let me know.

Thanks

Ok so since I knew my problem was in the wiring, I (in a frustrated manner) cut all the wires off the board and started from scratch.  I drew a plan on paper of what went where, and I finally got it down!

It works and sounds killer.  The hardest part was boxing the dang thing, because I wanted my input/output jacks and 9v power at the top, to save room on my pedalboard.  The Inputs/out are sitting between some pots, it was pretty crazy and hectic but I am super glad I stuck with it.

Good luck with you and all your problems.  Sound like some kind of grounding issue if there is excessive popping.  I'd check that first.

Thanks guys!

Well I guess I should have first asked, how do I attach pictures on here?

Every time I try, it says my files are too large.  I have tried one at a time.

Thanks

Alright so this is only my fourth build, so please forgive me if the work is messy.

I had everything put together and used my testing rig to see if everything worked.  It did.  Now when I went to wire the input/output, power, leds and switches (2), the pedal no longer works.  One channel is super fuzzy, but not musically nice in any way, and the other (second in line) channel has no output whatsoever.  The audio translates when the pedals are off so the bypass is working correctly and the LED's light up showing power.

I will attach some pictures, but like I say I truly think it is in the wiring.  I used a madbean standard wiring guide, but must have missed something stupid.  I already tried swapping IC's just to see if somehow they were fried, but that didn't change anything.  I guess I am getting tripped up because this pedal has two channels..

If any more pictures are needed, please ask.  Any other questions or comments are welcome.

Thanks so much guys!
