bless you sir.  Stuck some 5088's in and it worked first try.  great sounding delay.  Should there be any improvement when my bc550's arrive?

hi guys,

so Ive got the SDX on the bench ready to test but like a dufus Ive not ordered any BC550's.... :-[

Also, being the impatient bafoon that I am, are there any trannies I can sub for these with acceptable results just to test the thing?

ha ha,  I always think of this when that word comes up.....

thanks for your reply.  I have been tinkering around with these 3 circuits a little bit today and you are right, If I use the thunderpuss it needs to go at the end of the chain but be switched simultaneously with the afterlife.  Thankfully Ive got a big enclosure to put them all in so space aint an issue.

I think Im going hook up a f.switch to the afterlife later to quickly test how much volume is on tap.  I couldnt really A/B it that well with the bypass signal earlier and I think there may be enough volume there to use for a solo boost.

I'll post some build pics and a demo once its done.

also just remembered, I have a thunderpuss somewhere that I havent boxed up yet.  Would running the afterlife and thunderpuss together as a boost/comp section be a better idea?   I could just replace the volume pot on the afterlife with a fixed resistor value.

sorry to revive this thread.

I have built out both circuits and they are working great. First time i have used my test rig and Im impressed with how easy it made testing.

I was wondering if there is any way to mod the afterlife circuit so that the output level is above unity gain?  I would like to use it as a sort of boost function for the pedal Im making.  Would it be possible to increase the value of the volume pot?   I dont need tons of boost level, just enough to take it up slightly for solo's.

thanks!

Tech Help - Projects Page / afterlife diodes
January 24, 2013, 07:44:41 PM
Hi guys,

ive nearly finished stuffing a pair of afterlife comp pcb's and I am struggling to source the 1n270 diodes in the UK at a reasonable cost.

I know the build docs suggest 1n34a or 1n60 as alternatives and also bat41.  Has anyone tried alternative diodes and had good results? Can anyone suggest any other substitutes that are more common?

and one final dumbass question, what do the diodes do in this circuit?

I would disagree on the lugability.  Seperate head and cab is the way i would go for transporting as you have more options when stuffing them into a car boot, instead of one large box.

Plus, if you ever decide to go with different drivers you dont have to butcher the combo to make them fit.  Just make a new cab and sell the old one in one piece.

hmmm,  if Barry is back up and running I may look into the 36w kit again

Hi Sam and Ian.  If you run into a problem, I'd be glad to assist as well.

Yes, Ian has helped me out tremendously. Thanks for the offer though, Frank.

Guys,

I am repairing a mixing desk for a friend and I need to order some replacement pointer knobs. I have found the exact matching ones I need but they are from a company in the USA who will not ship to me here in the UK.

would anyone be willing to order the parts for me and post them over to the UK? Its only a few dollars worth, which is what makes it annoying!

I can get the money to you up front and add on a few extra dollars for your troubles.

Thanks!
Sam

chorus for me.

My bass pedal board currently goes - Boss TU2, sansamp programmable bass di, pork barrell, phase 90 into my trace elliot vtype head and a pair of 2x12 zilla cabs.
