Open Discussion / Re: Pulldown Resistor Question

Good read here:
http://mrblackpedals.com/blogs/straight-jive

No discussion about pull-down resistor values. That's another discussion entirely.
There is some useful information about switch pop however.

Okay.
I'll bite. There are many sources of switching noise in mechanical systems.
On DC bleed: as a general stompbos rule of thumb, a voltage offset in excess of 5mV will often cause a "switch to pop."  Most notably if there is no limit to how much/quickly the current is transmitted.
I'm writing a tech article about this right now. There will be a whole lot more detail in that publication.
I'll post a URL when it is released.

Quickbooks works quite well, if you do your part.

Like this?

But with the center control at a lower setting?

I personally think a little bit of modulation in a reverb simulator is a good thing.
Too much and it can get retarded and begin to resemble a chorus or flanger effect.
Without a little drift, it might sound stiff, mechanical and "fake."

Consider what the circuit is attempting to simulate.
You may say: well, the boundaries (walls) of the space aren't moving around!
Right!  But!  The reflections are subject to all types of distortion as they do not bounce off a surface in a straight line, but rather simultaneously omnidirectional.  So maybe there is a little doppler type stuff happening, compounded by collisions with other reflections, air pressure/temp, frequencies absorbed by reflecting/pickup material etc etc etc.

All I'm saying is that if the part is a few PT2399s, well, a little drift in clock frequency is a good thing.

On another note, try probing around the Current Control pins ( 7, 8 ).  I think you'll find the answers to your  initial question.

NPD!  I did play it first Jack  ;)

I love looking at the workmanship and efficient use of space (no pun intended)

Gotta put it back together now so I can play!  ;D

It's was a nice surprise to find at the door after a hot day at work today.

Josh

You are hilarious.  Glad you enjoy the package and can appreciate the layout.  Take a good hard look.  There's some gems in there.
Thanks for covering the top half of the PCB as well.  Much appreciated.

You can always design your own enclosure and stick with the standard finger configuration.
There are a number of inexpensive plastics houses who can knock up a case for not a lot of dough.
Hell, I'm sure if there is enough interest, a group order for taller enclosures and associated perf PCBs would be totally possible. Take it a step farther and make an open frame enclosure to support a breadboard.
Just a few ideas...
I know I'll  be working on a few things for this platform.

Why can't I stop with delay's and reverbs....

Just preordered this:

I really need to stay off the gear page!!!!

Josh

Thanks, man!  It means a lot to me that you bought one.
I just made a video last night with some nice ambient tones.
Here's the URL for those interested:
http://youtu.be/GifV_k_qVMc

It'll do everything from simple, light background 'verb to really drawn out, spacey, modulated ambience with ease.
I'm super stoked off this circuit, and the PCB layout is gorgeous as always!
