Thanks Bennie,

I did check and verify the pinouts.

Open Discussion / Muff Trannie Experiments

So I built 2 identical muff clones to experiment with different trannies and blocking/feedback caps etc.
So now caps in both are identical,
put BC109c's in one, sounds awesome
BC549c and 2N5088 in second one, sounded crap no sustain
Muffroom Cloud clone with BC549c's sounds as good as one with 109's.
Can't get my head around why the trannies in second one sound so crap

Hey (hope this is right place to post this??)

Built a Queen of Bone and is sounding great, but when I engage either side of the pedal the sound swells up to volume, checked suppy, charge pump and IC voltages with DMM and they stay constant when I engage, but the audio swells.
Using MAX1044pump and 4580 opamps.

Can anyone help?

cheers

Hi,

Built a Rustbucket, and worked as soon as I plugged it in, however, now I've tweaked the Bias Trimmer I seem to be getting a lot of false and retriggering of notes, should it matter where in the signal chain it sits? Any sweetspots for the front panel controls?

Also, was wondering if changing the resistor in the feedback cct of IC4B would clean the signal up a bit so it doesn't sound distorted, more clean/neutral?

thanks

Hey,

just wondered if anyone had used one of those Ebay digital ESR meters (they test everything, resistors, caps, BJT's, FET's) to test Germanium Transistors?

thanks

Hey All,

Built a working Sunking II but the switches don't seem to do much. Even had nothing installed in the 2nd diode set, but can't hear much of a change in any position.

Are they just to subtle for my fuzz blasted ears??

thanx

Hi,

hoping that someone can help me with Sunking IC voltages so as I can faultfind mine!

thanks

Thanks for responses, will go for the series option.

Should have mentioned I'm in Australia, so Mouser etc is out of the question.

thnx

Hey,

having trouble sourcing the 392k and 422k resistors for the Kinslayer/Sunking builds.

Can I use 390k and 430k?

thnks

I don't have the space/means to mic an amp properly.

I've tried all the amp sims, and a few years ago settled on Guitar Rig.

However, have just swapped over to Scuffham Amps S-Gear which I think is brilliant, the only sim I've played where I've just played and played, not stopping to tweak patches coz they didn't sound just right, and it's cheap to.

Also, Bias is fantastic on the ipad.

Hey,

Looking to build a Delay in the next round of projects, just curious what the differences are between the Zero Point family one's and say the Dirtbag?

thanks

Hey,

dumb question that I just gotta ask.

Got several Madbean projects on the go, I assume the pots are installed so the shafts face away from the solder side of the board, ie on the opposite side to the components?

thanks

Hey,

looking to start a few new projects and am wondering which cap types to buy?

Is it worth spending the extra $$ on Wima or similar type caps, or just stick with the run of the mill kinds/

thanks in advance!

General Questions / Re: Smoothie with vibe mod

Did the same mod myself.

It actually becomes a bit more alive if you make the bias pot an external control as well as add the mix control (from I think his name is 'philpot').

cheers
