I have constructed a Univibe clone pedal which works. I am trying to make it work using a 9 volt DC supply and a charge pump using the LT1054CP Integrated Circuit. I was hoping to get 18 volts out of the charge pump from the unregulated 18 volt supply(Road Rage 2019) but it supplies less than 17 volts. (It varies rapidly from 16.5 volts to 16.9 volts). I have measured the voltages around the circuit and I have enclosed them in the attached circuit diagram. I have corrected one ground loop already but I cannot get the voltage to stabilise at 18 volts or near it. I believed the problem might be at D3 1N5817 Shottky Diode because that's where the voltage starts to jump around from 13.0 to 13.3 volts. However all three 1N5817 offer 179 approx on the diode setting of my multimeter so that is consistent. The Road Rage 15 volt regulated supply offers 14.9. The Univibe PCB also has a 7815 voltage regulator to deliver 15 volts, is this bad practice adn should I remove the Road Rage L78L15ACZ regulator? All the components were purchased new from Mouser. My question ..is it normal for charge pump out voltages to vary so much? Do the enclosed voltage readings mean I have a bad LT1054CP? (C5 and C6 were omitted from the design as per instructions.)

ROAD RAGE 2019: I'm also getting 16.8 volts from the 18 volts output pads. I have 9.2 volts running into the charge pump from a DC PSU. I have C5 and C6 omitted on the Road Rage with C6 jumpered between positive and negative. I reflowed everything and checked all the grounds. Not sure where I lost that extra volt but I need it to kick start a Univibe clone. Do you have the correct voltage readings for the LT1054 pins? Maybe I have a bad IC.

I have constructed a Univibe clone using the attached schematic which uses a recommended 24 volts DC. The design seems to be a forumvibe but which version I am not sure. Some of the caps are rated at 25 volts so this seems a small margin of error. I want to use a Road Rage charge pump to boost my pedal board voltage from 9 volts to 18. The Road Rage 2019 uses an LT1054CP charge booster to amplify the 9 volts into a higher rating with no audible whine noise.
I have constructed the Road Rage and it works, I have 16.8 volts running into the Univibe. Now the Univibe lamp works, it pulses and the rate of pulse is successfully controlled by the speed knob. The intensity of the bulb is successfully controlled by the intensity knob and the volume works too. I know this because the guitar is audible on bypass and I also hear guitar when the Univibe effect is switched on at the footswitch however there is no Univibe swirling or whooshing effect.

I think I am close to a successful project. I suspect if I remove some of the 50 resistors I might achieve enough power to make it work. The question is which ones? I know that the Forumvibe design has worked with the road rage charge pump before, although the details are not clear to me. The LT1054CP has a max rating of 100 milliamps and I suspect this is where my problem lies as most of the Forum Vibe designs pull 150 milliamps. I have seem Univibe pedals from Jam or Rockett that use 9 volts so it should be possible. I am guessing how to proceed. Any assistance would be gratefully received.
