So I just ordered a bunch if stuff and they sent me back a message informing me the painted 1590a enclosure I ordered was on back order. I had to call and modify my order or wait a few weeks for them to get it powder coated. Just wanted to give you guys a heads up that their list of what is in stock for 1590A's is not correct. It shows all of the new translucent colors as "in stock"but they are all out of stock. They also recently sent a bulk email claiming that all colors were available for all enclosure sizes kast month, but the 1590a's do not appear to be available for all colors (at least there is no way to select some colors on the site). I am hoping they will update the site soon, but at least they have been nice about everything...

I'm going to have to look into this too and get that 1590A page updated will all the new colors. I made all the options at the same time, so I must have missed a color or two. Just a heads up that the stock number on the enclosure page does not relate to how many of each powdercoated enclosure that we have in stock, that's the stock that we have on bare 1590A enclosures. I know it's confusing, and I really wish that we could have updated stock counts for each color on the site, but that would take more time than we have the manpower for at the moment. But if you ever get a notice that you have a backordered enclosure, just email or call me and I can give you an ETA on them, or we can get your color changed to one of our other ones.

I finally received my order today (see below), more than 3 months after ordering, but as said before, that's not Mammoths fault. What is a bit annoying is that I got a Coolaudio V571D (got to find something to use that in...) instead of the V3207 I ordered and 3 instead of the 5 100kA pots I ordered  :( I already sent James an email, will report back on how this is handled. Don't think I'll order from them soon, as I also had to pay 22 euros (about $30 US) tax and customs fees. Mouser already quotes the tax on the specification you get before checking out and includes it in the payment, which also makes you don't have to pay the customs fees, IMO a far better system.

I've only ordered once from Mammoth, when they offered free shipping just before Black Friday. Believe it or not, I still haven't received my package!! For some reason or other, my shipment was returned to sender, so now they've reshipped it. Don't think they are to blame, and their customer service is super friendly and quick to reply, but it still is a bummer! Think of it: that package is going 3 times across the ocean!!! (I'm from The Netherlands) I hope it arrives before the closing date of the February build comp, as it contains the pots I need to finish my entry.....

Paul

Paul,

I did see that email from you, I'm looking into the reason where that switch up on the ICs came from. But regardless, I'll get those V3207s, and your missing pots out to you tomorrow morning via USPS Priority International.

We can't give out supplier information, but we do have our Superswell pots made to our specifications based on the curve of the taper that we wanted. We did carry a CTS version before we got these in. There are several different 'ICAR' tapers (sometimes referred to as an 'S' taper) and while ours are similar to those out on the market, we liked the curve of our pot more. As far as the shaft, we found it was much easier to install than the knurled pinion.

For what it's worth, I just got a report today of a pedal I built for someone who took it on tour (to Australia!) with one of the cheaper Mammoth 3PDTs inside, and apparently it broke on the first night. At this point I don't know if something broke inside the switch, or if it got smashed on the way to Australia, or what, so I'm willing to chalk it up to bad luck. Still, I'm considering replacing the switch with a different kind once I get it back on the workbench.

Make sure to let us know when something like that happens. Shoot me your info at blake@mammothelectronics.com, and we'll get you some new ones right away. I'll even toss in a sample or two of our Pro series so you can compare. We still stand by our normal Taiwan Blue ones, though.

Thanks!

After not ordering from Mammoth for a while I need to say I was very happy to get a really nice batch of enclosures yesterday.  I've steered away from using them as I had some quality issues in the past with the enclosures as others have as well.

They look great and suffer none of the lack of powdercoat or imperfections that I've experienced in the past.  The lids also fit great and the screws are stainless steel!

Props to Blake and his team for continually improving!

Also, thanks for explaining the switch pricing.

Josh

Thanks for the order, Josh! And stay on us about our quality. We want to continue to improve, even if we feel like we're doing the best we've ever done.

Yes, we've made significant changes and developments in our production services (powdercoating, drilling, and even small run custom screenprinting).

Any idea how long mammoth orders usually take?
I placed mine on the 23rd and it stills says processing.

Perhaps the enclosures are painted and drilled to order rather than off the shelf?

We made a few statements on our Facebook page and in some other forums about this issue, but here's the deal:

Black Friday weekend brought in over 600 orders, with around 300 of them coming in on Friday (the 23rd). Then, Cyber Monday hit and we brought in another 200 orders. To give perspective, we normally bring in less than a third of this on a given weekend, and that's not including Cyber Monday's numbers.

Needless to say, we're backed up. We've brought in all of our managers, shippers, and even a few friends to help us get these orders out the door, and we've met and exceeded our daily goals for getting the backlog settled - we're breaking records on daily shipped orders. Please shoot an email to James at sales@mammothelectronics.com to get an update on your specific order. I will see to it that any setbacks that may be associated with your order are taken care of immediately.

Thanks to everyone who ordered over the weekend. It was a record breaking one, that's for sure.

As for the 'sketchy' pricing increase :
We quickly sold out of our reserved sale stock on those two switches, so we had to jack up the price on those to take them back to pre-sale pricing.

Very sorry for that. We didn't expect to get over 280+ orders in one day, selling out of our reserved sale stock on switches in a matter of hours.

Now that the sale on all switches is over, we've taken pricing back down to normal, which is super low for these incredible switches. We've had a long history with our supplier (over 6 years and counting), tweaking and perfecting all along the way, and we fully stand by these puppies. If you want the long history on our switches, I'd love to indulge you.

Just throwing in somemore feedback/praise for Mammoth. I placed an order for the free shipping deal and then realized the next day I needed a few more things  ::) e-mailed them and Blake combined my order no problem to keep the free shipping.

Also I ordered a few enclosures with cream powdercoat and find the quality good. The PC on one of them isn't dead smooth but still very exceptable, especially since I will decal and clear-coat it anyway.

One bit of feedback would be to put more tape on the shipping box seam (only had one strip) as it was not centered and everything was about to fall out after the USPS shipping gorilla's tossed it around a few days  ;D

Thanks again!

Thanks for the feedback, Pryde! I let our guys know about the tape issue, so they will be watching out for off-centered taping.

Unfortunately it's a roll of the dice depending on your geographic location, even from city to city. Here in the Oklahoma/Texas region, UPS is incredible and USPS is horrible, and FedEx is expensive.

We're constantly talking about ways to improve our relationships with our carriers, and lower our postage costs. Thus far, UPS has been great to work with (just make sure to pack your boxes thoroughly), while USPS is inconsistent and disorganized. You get what you pay for, essentially.

FedEx hasn't quite stepped up to the plate on shipping rates yet, but as soon as they decide to extend better pricing our way, we'll extend the savings on to you all. At this point, it would be too expensive for us and our customer base. Hopefully that will change at some point soon.

The short story is that larger companies get better pricing on all shipping rates. You think the superpower ecommerce websites are doing you a favor by waiving shipping fees or free upgrades to 2nd or 3rd day delivery? For alot of them, there's almost no difference in cost. They have a lot of clout with carriers like UPS and FedEx, who will do anything for them to keep their shipping allegiance. Now, I'm glad they choose (sometimes) to pass the savings on to the customer, but presenting it as some huge favor is just not accurate.

Shouldn't it be called Tenth Class, or Last Class if it's that slow?

Couldn't agree more. There is a reason USPS takes billions in losses every quarter.. Inefficiency and disorganization are just symptoms of their bigger problems.

Hello Blake. I just put in an order for some goodies from your store. You are stocking alot of great stuff. Looking forward to trying your enclosures.

I was wondering if you are able to get any 2n3565 transistors, or even the Pn2565 ones (different package type)? I know of a couple places but hate to do a separate order for just a few parts.

Thanks.

Hey pryde : we don't have those at this time, but I'll talk to our supplier and see if we have those on queue, or can get them bumped in to the queue asap.

Thanks man!

Just received an order from Blake and the Davies clone knobs (19mm diameter) are good quality. Some time ago I got some very poor quality knobs but these new one's are very nice. I wouldn't hesitate to order from Mammoth again.

Thanks for the feedback, pryde! Yeah, we brought in much nicer standard ABS knobs a while back, but just recently we brought in even nicer ones in our Phenolic ABS section. It's good to hear you like the 19mm Davies Syle (i believe you're referring to the 1510 Series), because we're bringing in a Phenolic version of that Series as well. So if you're fiending for some even nicer ones, we'll have those in in the next few months I believe.

they are flimsy, i've had one break just by turning the shaft on it a bit too strong.

i guess it's my fault, but i've never had that happen with any other switch.

Whhhhaat. On most footswitches you can turn the top of it all day and it's not connected to anything. Why would this be made differently? That's just silly.

@midwayfair : are you referring to the actual actuating post? I'm almost positive you're actually referring to screwing the nut down against the chassis - yes, they will break if you do that. Both nuts must be used on these - one against the bottom side of the face of the enclosure (to keep the enclosure from crushing down on the chassis of the switch), and one on the face of the enclosure.

@Om_Audio : these switches are rated for longer lifespans, but they must be installed correctly. We've heard great feedback on them, and I'd love to hear yours as well - critique is always welcome. Shoot me an email at blake@mammothelectronics.com, and I'll hook you up with a sample. I'd love to hear your thoughts on them.

Also, I am going to give their davies clone knobs another chance.

Let me know what you think when you receive them. Did you get the Phenolic version, or the Standard ABS version? I suppose it depends on what Davies Clone model you purchased, as some styles do not have a Phenolic version yet.

Would love to hear your feedback.
