General Questions / Sola Sound Transistor question
October 25, 2020, 05:43:05 AM
What's the deal with the colorful transistors in the DAM sola sound fuzzes? They have colorful leads- are they made that way, or are the leads soldered to the transistor and the cap covered for aesthetics?
Thanks!

General Questions / Cap change effect question
October 16, 2020, 05:59:56 PM
Can someone give me an idea of the result when changing the value of C12 on the attached schematic? Its a BEOD clone from pedalpcb-
Someone recommended changing the 120pf to something like a 1n or 1N5?
Thanks for the help!

I'm building a tube screamer- need 2sc1815 and only have bc550 and 5089's. I have lots of transistors, but those are the 2 I'd prefer to sub. The base and collector pinout is opposite the of the 1815. Any advice on the best way to bend/modify the leads?
Thanks for the help?

If I'm thinking correctly, if I for example, put a 4.7k in series w a B10k pot; the signal out of the pot won't go below 4.7k. Question is how the pot behaves as it turns up. Will it have no change until it turns roughly halfway? Or will it change the resolution of the pot and the entire turn will adjust between 4.7 and 10k.
Sorry for the noob question
Thanks for the help!

Just tried a 1n5 in place of the 120p- made it a bit worse lol. Now I can't get the hum/ squeal to go easy with the tight knob- affects the gain knob now -

finished a build on a pedalpcb thermionic distortion last nite- sounds good,BUT I'm getting a nasty feedback oscillation when I turn the "tight" knob up more than 20-25%. Starts at a lower pitch and rises as I turn up the knob.I checked the pots w/ my dmm and they are working proper. Changed the trimmer. Looked under magnification and didn't notice anything too obvious. I've built a few pedals, but this one is the most complicated so far. Any ideas or advice would be GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks!
